EDCP 601 \u2013 Curriculum and Pedagogy: History and Theory<\/strong>
\nThis seminar is intended for first-year doctoral students. It examines the emergence of contemporary conceptions of curriculum and pedagogy, looking across various historical and theoretical influences. Emphasis is placed on analysis of varied conceptual and political perspectives, explicit and tacit rationales for formal education, and consequent principles that infuse conceptions and enactments of curriculum and pedagogy. *For 2017, we will focus on conceptual analysis and conceptual history as well as perceptual analysis and perceptual history. \u201cTheory without history is empty, history without theory is blind\u201d (Miller, 1939, p. 36, paraphrasing Kant, 1781).<\/p>\n
