{"id":259,"date":"2012-04-24T01:00:00","date_gmt":"2012-04-24T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/edst591\/?p=259"},"modified":"2012-04-29T22:22:30","modified_gmt":"2012-04-30T05:22:30","slug":"holistic-culturally-relevant-approaches-critical-reflection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/edst591\/holistic-culturally-relevant-approaches-critical-reflection\/","title":{"rendered":"Holistic, Culturally-Relevant Approaches: Critical Reflection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Essentially, classroom management is a social agreement entered into by the students, teachers, and families of the learning community.\u00a0 There is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all plan, but there certainly are particular approaches that can help learning communities move toward creating a holistic, culturally-relevant management plan that works in their context. \u00a0The first aspect to consider is a practice of critical reflection, both as an individual, and as a group of engaged collaborators:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Aspect 1: Critical Reflection<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Collectively define:\n<ul>\n<li>Discipline<\/li>\n<li>Management<\/li>\n<li>Inclusive teaching practice<\/li>\n<li>Behavior support<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Examine personal biases and assumptions that are the normal inclination of all people.
