Comparing post colonial, decolonial and critical race theories<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n

In this session we will compare and contrast four different general approaches to social and epistemic injustices that have emerged from postcolonial, (Latin American) decolonial, Indigenous and critical race studies. We will engage with a social cartography that presents how each approach articulates a slightly different theory of change and use the comparisons to reflect on participants\u2019 own theories of change. The exercise will highlight the contextual contributions and\u00a0 limitations of each theoretical approach, as well as their potential to support us to ask different questions in educational contexts.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Join this students’ feedback meeting which is a gathering run by students to discuss their experience in\u00a0the\u00a0EDST program.\u00a0It is open to students from all EDST programs (Ph.D., MA, EdD, and MEd) and is meant as a place to\u00a0<\/span>gather<\/span>\u00a0face to face feedback from students which we as GAAs and students reps plan to communicate to the department.<\/span><\/p>\n

Graduate students are expected to produce well-written, carefully-organized, comprehensive and critical literature reviews as part of their academic studies. Many books and other resources are available to guide students through the process, but this session will focus more on the expectations of faculty, examiners, journal editors and others who read and assess reviews. The characteristics of high quality reviews and common flaws to avoid will be discussed along with the role that an outstanding literature review can play in the development of one\u2019s academic career.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n
