For Remembrance day, I decided to teach a lesson on peace.<\/p>\n

I began by asking the class what peace means to them and I wrote the definitions on the board. This allowed them to see the words visually and helped those who may be visual learners absorb the material better.<\/p>\n

Afterwards, I read the book “Paulie Pastrami brings world peace” to the class. The book gave the class ideas for bringing about peace in their communities.<\/p>\n

To ensure that all the students understood the lesson that was taught by the book, I asked everyone ways in which they could bring about peace to the world around them. I wrote these suggestions on the board so that the students would have a means of reference during the activity.<\/p>\n

As a means of assessment, I provided each child with a worksheet to fill out where they had to write at least 3 ways to help create peace and draw a picture to represent it.<\/p>\n

I am aware that everyone in the class is at different learning levels being that it is a grade 1, 2, 3 classroom, so I told the grade 1 students that they could choose one from the board to copy. If the student was struggling to print the sentences, I would instruct them to write shorter ones or to merely focus on drawing the picture and had them explain the picture to me verbally.<\/p>\n
