Group Meeting – Oct 23, 2014

This week we met with our instructor and TA about our first prototype. We spent some time discussing technical details and planning. Our goal for the first prototype is to get our electrical components working (excluding the power and motor circuit). We finalized most of the parts to order and got approval to begin ordering. We split up the work as follows:

Michael, Weng Fei and Mustafa:

– Getting the weight signal (load cell/amp/ADC)

– Zeroing the scale (microcontroller/push button)

Maria and Oscar:

– Displaying weight (microcontroller/LCD)

– Converting units (microcontroller/toggle switch)

Group Meeting – Oct 16, 2014

We had our presentation on Tuesday and submitted our proposal. Now we need to get started on the first prototype. We have made a spreadsheet outlined all of the major components we need to obtain for this project. We plan to have filled in the spreadsheet with various options for each part by Tuesday, Oct 21st. We will meet that day, analyze our options, and decide on which parts to order.

Group Meeting – Oct 7, 2014

We met today to work on our proposal presentation. We decided to split up the work such that each team member completes the section of the presentation that corresponds to the section of the proposal that they were responsible for:

Maria – Intro, Project Description, RCGs

Michael – Proposed Solution #1

Oscar – Proposed Solution #2

Weng Fei – Proposed Solution #3

Mustafa – Comparison and Conclusion

The presentation slides and script will be complete by Sunday. Maria will present the first half of the slides and Mustafa will present the second half. After practicing the presentation individually, we will meet on Tuesday to run through it as a team before we present.

Group Meeting – Sep 25, 2014

During our meeting today, we finalized our team agreement and split up tasks for the proposal as follows:

Maria – Title Page, Introduction, and Problem Definition

Michael – Platform Design

Weng Fei – Load Cell Design

Oscar – Rail Design

Mustafa – Comparison, Conclusion and Bibliography

We are planning to work on our respective sections over the weekend and meet early next week to collaborate before handing in our draft to our instructor.
