The external environment may be connected to the computer system through sensors, actuators and other input-output interfaces. The interaction with an external environment (the \u201creal\u201d world) forces such systems to behave in a manner that is predictable, often because human life is affected by these systems, and sometimes because a certain quality of service is expected.
