-Biography-
A little about me!
I am technically a fifth year undergraduate student at UBC, but I’d prefer to say I’m in my “fourth and a half year”. This is my last semester at UBC, and I will be graduating in December. I’m in the Arts program, majoring in Psychology.
I was born, raised, and still live in East Vancouver, and I first began my university career at Capilano University. I took the usual first year hodgepodge of arts courses, and psychology was my favourite of the bunch. When I transferred to Concorida University in Montreal for my second year, I declared a major in Psychology.
For my third year I moved back to Vancouver and continued my psychology degree at UBC. I love what I’m studying, but contrary to what most people (parents/older relatives) assume, I will not be using my psych degree to become a psychiatrist/psychologist/counsellor/etc. I enjoy the social, personality, and business aspects of psychology more than the clinical aspects, so I intend to pursue a career more along those lines.
I am not sure what I want to be when I “grow up”. Psychology is, by definition, the study of human behaviour, and I love working with people. I intend to have a job that allows me to interact with people and use my studies to make sense of why people do what they do. I would also love a job that requires me to travel to different parts of the world. As of right now, I have a few career path ideas are floating around my head, such as; marketing, consulting, industrial/organization psychology, or a career in the film or music industry (following in my parents’ steps). You never know though, when I was younger I wanted to be both a veterinarian and lawyer, my mind may continue to change as I grow.
When I graduate I plan to take some time to myself, continue working at my current job (as a server at The Keg), and figure out what I would like to do next. I believe that things always work out how they should, with a little help and hard work.
