Disney!

Recentally, I have seen ads on TV for Disney Land or Disney World. The ads feature parents telling their kids that they are going to go to Disney Land and showing the excitement on the children’s faces. I think this is a really great approach to marketing their product. Disney has dubbed themself “The Magic Kingdom” telling people it is where dreams come true. Marketing themself as a place of such extreme happiness is a great idea. They tell parents that their kids will be overwhelmed with joy and excitement when going. They plant an idea of wholesome family fun, this is what the ads are capitalizing on. Parents get satisfaction out of seeing their kids happy and  by showing parents how excited their children will be, Disney is making parents more likely to consider the idea of going.  Also, Children will be watching TV and see the ads and possibly ask their parents to go to Disney Land. And we all know, if you bug your parents enough you can generally get them to do anything. Parents have a hard time saying no to their children and this is something Disney knows and us using for their own benefit.

I think Walt Disney was a very smart man and the empire he built is now run by people who also know what they are doing when it comes to running a business. Last year Disney had a net income of over $7,500,000,000. Their marketing is a huge reason for this. They have loyal customers who have and will continue to come visit their parks.

Why Are Tampon Adds So Ridiculous?

U by Kotex Ad Campaign Marketing

When watching TV its almost impossible to finish a half hour show without seeing an advertisement for some sort of feminine hygiene product (Yes boys, this post is about tampons). To be honest they all kind of seem to be the same and none of them stand out from the bunch. Until now, Recently Kotex has come out with a whole new ad campaign with  a totally new and creative concept for their ads. This whole campaign revolves around the company’s new campaign slogan  “why are tampon ads so obnoxious?” or the more popular “Why are tampon ads so ridiculous?”.

U by Kotex’s adds are unique in the sense that instead of having similar ads to other brands like Playtex or Tampax, Kotex instead showcases a highly sarcastic girl who points out all the flaws in the main stream ads.  They make fun of the ordinary ads where girls typically are dancing, twirling, and playing with kittens. As well they poke fun at the typical marketing strategies which are massively over used by most tampon ads.   Most of my friends and myself find this absolutely hilarious. Woman can really connect with these ads as they appeal with the “less ridiculous” or more realistic aspects surrounding the …uh… monthly situation. I think Kotex has done a brilliant job of marketing their product as a cool, realistic and honest brand who is not afraid to tell it like it is.  This is a totally fresh take on a sensitive situation which will make girls laugh, even if it is that time of the month.

For those of you who somehow have not seen these ads here are a few links to the videos:

As well Kotex did a “Social Experiment” about why people feel awkward about these topics. If you are still reading, clearly you are not one of these people. You may have seen this ad on TV as well.
