This is a sample GIS piece that I created in Introduction to GIS. It is an environmental assessment of the proposed ski resort at Garabaldi\/Squamish.\u00a0It communicates\u00a0that over 50% of the proposed project area contains sensitive environments. Throughout this class I have learned how to acquire and manipulate datasets, perform complex analysis operations, use various tools, and produce a map to present my findings.<\/p>\n
This is the most interesting project that I completed because it combines my interests of skiing and the environment. It made me realize the serious impact that ski resorts have on the environment.<\/p>\n
With this map,\u00a0I focused on presentation. In previous labs, I struggled to portray my findings in a visually\u00a0coherent way. With each lab that I completed, I improved. I also had the chance in this lab to practice acquiring my own data from the internet.
