Organizing with Bullets

Organization and Format are two major concerns for professional writers.

Bullets are helpful.

For Example:

“ I noticed some errors after reading the document. One example would be “Lemma (A supporting proposition, statement, or result).” There is no need for a period, since the parentheses just clarify the meaning of a lemma but does not make it a sentence. ‘A’ does not have to be capitalized. The word lemma is italicized throughout the document, except for the parenthetical definition. Italicizing lemma for that section can help with the consistency of the document. The sentence that states the objective of the assignment has a grammatical issue that can be improved on. In this sentence, “The objective is to successfully define the term lemma, by understanding how audience and purpose dictates the need for definition…”, ‘dictates’ should be changed to ‘dictate’ since both audience and purpose are being talked about. This would correct the issue with the subject-verb agreement.

Organized with Bullets:

Please note these errors in expression:

  • The parenthesis definition does not need a period
  • ‘A’ does not have to be capitalized
  • The word lemma is italicized throughout the document, except for the parenthetical definition. Italicizing lemma for that section can help with the consistency of the document.
  • Objective has a grammatical error: dictates should be changed to ‘dictate’ re: subject verb agreement

Grammar/Style. There are two grammatical issues I’d like to bring to your attention. Firstly, you have chosen to indent the first three subheadings of your assignment, “Term”, “Parenthetical Definition”, and “Sentence Definition”. For consistency purposes, I suggest removing the spacing for the first three subheadings to reflect the other subheadings of your assignment, which are not indented. Alternatively, you can include this spacing to the rest of your subheadings to reflect your deliberate choice of spacing. Another suggestion is to include a comma in the fourth sentence of the Operating Principle paragraph. Because you included a comma in the fifth sentence to separate “greater value” and “then less light …”, including a comma in the previous sentence that defines the “smaller value” and “then more light …” will make the overall explanation more coherent.

Organized with Bullets:

Grammar/Style:

  • Consistency: Ensuring that all sub-headings are consistent in style and formatting will make this document easier to read and more professional
  • Grammar: Considering a comma in sentence 4 of Operating Principle will help with coherency.
