Formal Report Progress Memo

MEMORANDUM

To: Dr. Erika Paterson

From: Usman Zahoor

Date: Nov, 15, 2019

Subject: Formal Report Progress Memo

Audience

The target audience is Best Buy British Columbia’s district sales manager, Stephen Arcay. He oversees all Best Buy’s in the province and can directly influence the national director.

Purpose of report

Price tags are changed daily, regardless of whether the price of the item actually changes. As a result, a great deal of paper is needlessly wasted. This report will aim to demonstrate why Best Buy Mobile should implement a digital price tag system to reduce paper waste.

Significance of report

There’s been a shift in corporations’ responsibility to become more eco-friendly, and rightly so. If a small store is producing such a large amount of paper waste, imagine what a big box store is.

As a leader in the tech consumer industry, Best Buy has the ability and responsibility to reduce their paper consumption if the solution is quite literally digital.

Research plan

  • Determine the exact amount of paper that’s being wasted on price tags in a given month
  • Determine how much employee time is dedicated to the task
  • Determine printing paper’s impact on the environment
  • Determine which digital price tag would be the best option
  • Research how much digital price tags would cost to implement per store, how much it would save (paper, time, money)
  • Survey the Pacific Center Best Buy Mobile’s employees
  • Create graphics/visuals
