MEMORANDUM

To: Syed Ahmed, Richard Chen, Aleem Tariq, Members of the ENGL 301 Writing team, Team Undefined
From: Elton Kok, ENGL 301 Student
Date: October 24th, 2020
Subject: Research of Best Linked In Practices

I would like to inform you all of my research of best practices regarding the use of the professional networking platform, Linked In, for the assignment 2:2 deliverable. From my research, I have composed the following list of the best practices:

  • Connect with colleagues, and classmates – Connecting with people you know personally on Linked In is the best way to learn about job openings and expand your network
  • Add a profile picture – Data from Linked In suggests profiles with pictures get 21 times more views and 9 times more connection requests
  • Customize your URL – Customize your URL so that people can easily remember/know how to get to your profile
  • Follow companies/content from your industry – Linked In allows you to keep up with companies you are interested in and let you stay up to date on new industry trends
  • Take a skills assessment – Data from Linked In shows those with a verified skills badge are 30% more likely to be hired for roles they apply for
  • Complete and Update your profile – Completing all sections of your profile and keeping the material up to date can help in boosting profile views
  • Engage with your network/industry – Commenting, liking, sharing articles/posts you come across shows you are actively engaged
  • Write a summary – Write a quick, short story about yourself so people can know your interests
  • Showcase your work and achievements – If you have any certificates/projects you have completed, let people know!
  • Look over your profile – Poor spelling or typos can have a negative impact on your profile

These practices should help everybody create and set up our Linked In profiles. I look forward to connecting with everyone on Linked In and reading the tips you come across.
