Subject: Writing Effective E-mail Messages to Professors
Introduction:
The principles listed below help with writing effective e-mail messages to university professors. These principles can be extended to any professional e-mail message.
Tips for writing business e-mail:
- By highlighting opportunities and possibilities rather than dislikes, the professor will have an easier time finding a solution.
- Eliminating a negative tone leads to a more pro-active mindset from the reader.
- Focusing on the reader, the professor in this case, shows an appreciation for their time and capabilities.
- Avoiding imperative verbs is respectful and creates a positive environment.
- Avoiding slang and abbreviations ensures the professor will take email messages seriously and respond in a timely manner.
Conclusion:
The full power of e-mail can be realized by following the principles outlined in this memorandum. Please feel free to contact me via email at myemail@gmail.com with any questions.
