Subject: Peer Review of “You” Attitude Memo
Thank you for writing a memo on best practices of sending emails to professors to Evan Crisp. Please see the review of your memo below.
First Impressions
The memo is very concise and organized, making it very easy to follow. The best practices is well thought out and written with a “you” attitude.
Best Practices
The list of best practices is very concise and is focused on providing advice rather than giving commands. The essential rules of writing with a “you” attitude and other important aspects of a professional email were integrated in a straightforward manner.
Organization
The organization of the list of best practices follows a chronological order from the top to the bottom of the email. The inclusion of a clear header further draws focus on the main points of the email. One minor suggestion is:
- Making “Eliminating any slang or colloquial words to maintain a sense of professionalism” above “Ending with an appropriate…” may allow Evan to avoid using slang terms in an email while writing it, rather than editing it out in the end.
Tone and Grammar
The tone throughout the memo is professional and friendly. Avoiding using “you” when writing the guidelines creates a sense of providing constructive advice rather than commanding corrections. Providing an email for further questions also creates a sense of willingness to help in a professional manner.
The memo was carefully written with no grammar mistakes.
Conclusion
Overall, great job on writing out best practices. The only suggestion is:
- Reordering the point about slang or colloquial terms for a better flow in the list of best practices
