Subject: Research on the Ten Best Linked-In Practices

Hi team,

I did some research about the best LinkedIn practices for assignment 2.2. Please take a look at my top ten LinkedIn practices and see if you find it useful!

  1. Send a personalized message for your connection request will not only help you stand out from other connections but also help you connect with new prospects.
  2. Never ask for anything in the message because they will potentially put the relationship to an end before it even begins.
  3. A strong profile summary should be short, precise and lists career focus and components of work. The summary should also include industry-related keywords, core skills, strengths, talents and interests.
  4. Profile photos should be ideally done in professional attire. A profile with photos is 14 times more likely to be viewed.
  5. A background photo is also another visual element on the profile page. It grabs people’s attention, sets the context and shows a little more about yourself.
  6. Elaborate on your work history in the “experience” section and use targeted keywords. Include specific information about what you’ve done in your previous positions that lead to quantifiable results.
  7. Education should be in reverse chronological order to show relevancy.
  8. Listing relevant skills are one of the best ways to showcase yourself to potential employers. Doing so helps to substantiate the description in the headline and summary, and provides a platform for your connection to endorse you.
  9. Be an active member and build your network on LinkedIn will help you engage with the community you wish to connect with. If they are within the same industry, that is even better as you may share common interest and industry knowledge that can help you expand your professional network.
  10. The profile should aim to answer questions that provide deeper insight about the individual. The reader should be able to tell why is this person unique? where is his career headed? and how would his peers describe him in professional settings?

In conclusion, most tips aim to help each individual stands out more by personalizing your profile so that it can capture the reader’s attention in a short period of time. A good LinkedIn practice emphasis being able to connect with others personally and showcase your skill sets and experiences that can be translated into a good workplace environment.
