Subject: Research for Best LinkedIn Practices

As per ENGL 301, I have researched some of the best practices for using LinkedIn. Here are some of the tips I found in:

  1. Use a professional profile picture – this should look recent with you in professional attire. Your face should encompass about 60% of the photo. (Fleming)
  2. Create a compelling summary – a concise but interesting summary is necessary to draw in recruiters. It should include relevant and measurable achievements that distinguishes you from the crowd. (Overby)
  3. List skills that are relevant to the field (Fleming)
  4. Highlight Experience – list relevant jobs and experiences. Include two to four bullet points to detail on what you’ve done as well as notable and quantifiable accomplishments. (Omoth)
  5. Avoid buzzwords – these words are overused and do not convince others of your qualifications. They include words like specialized, passionate, enthusiastic, and expert. (Fleming)
  6. Use Keywords – these words help your profile be found by prospective employers. (Kim)
  7. Personalized LinkedIn URL – remove the letters, numbers, and backslashes so it is concise and neat. (McKissen)
  8. Connect and engage with everyone – connect with people you know, as well as those you don’t. Connecting with people you want to know can be done through LinkedIn groups. (Kim)
  9. Regularly update your profile – doing so helps create your profile while your professional milestones are still fresh in your head. (Overby)
  10. Proofread your profile – poor grammar and misspelled words are unacceptable and reflect poorly on you. (Kim)

Thanks for reading. I hope this helps in creating your LinkedIn profile in the following assignment.

Regards,

Hilton
