Subject: Ten Best LinkedIn Practices

LinkedIn is one of the most popular platforms for job hiring and searching. To make a powerful LinkedIn, please read the following ten best practices and maximise your LinkedIn profile.

Ten Best Practices for powerful LinkedIn profile:

How to build your profile

  1. Choose the right profile picture for LinkedIn: dress your best, be friendly, and in a good distance. (Ku)
  2. Add a background photo: choosing a picture can grab people’s attention to engage and stay memorable. (Petrone)
  3. Make your headline more than just a job title: use the headline field to say a bit more about how you see your role, why do what you do, and what makes you tick. (Petrone)
  4. Have a great profile summary: make it be interesting, well written, and should capture what your brand is all about. (Ku)
  5. Customise the URL: try to customise your LinkedIn address to make it easier for people to look you up. (“How to Improve Your LinkedIn Profile in 2021”)
  6. Keep your profile up-to-date: it is always important to keep it updated as much as possible. (“How to Improve Your LinkedIn Profile in 2021”)

How to connect to others

  1. Leverage the advanced search filters while finding new connections: use the search bar in the top navigation to find new connections by their name, current or previous company, location, and general keywords related to their title or role. (Ma)
  2. Expand your network and join groups: try to join groups and follow influencers outside of your network, and learn from them. (“How to Improve Your LinkedIn Profile in 2021”)
  3. Send personalised connection invitations: consider why you truly are connecting with them in the first place and appeal to them. (Ku)

How to be active

  1. Be active on LinkedIn and applying for jobs: message your connection, ask for informational interviews, request referrals and recommendations. Also use the “Easy Apply” button to quickly apply for a job you want. (Ma)

The above practices include how to build your profile page, the ways to connect to other people in the field you are interested in, and the attitude in your job searching. By following those points, I believe your LinkedIn profile will be able to be more powerful. Hope this is helpful to you!
