Subject:        Best LinkedIn Practices

As stated on the ENGL 301 blog site, the goal of this assignment is to determine the best practices when using LinkedIn. The following are 10 of the best practices that will maximize interactions with fellow users, and improve the personal networking experience.

1. Using a professional headshot with proper attire will attract recruiters to the profile (Dodaro)
2. Utilizing a personal custom URL makes the profile easier to identify for potential recruiters (Elliot)
3. Writing a personalized tagline and summary to differentiate yourself from other individuals (Smulders)
4. Keeping the LinkedIn profile updated with accomplishments, milestones, and achievements will prevent the profile from becoming static (Shore)
5. Driving engagement and promote discussion by actively posting personal blogs, company updates, and participating in conversations with individuals through LinkedIn groups (Dodaro)
6. Adjusting the privacy settings ensures the account is public and visible to all audiences (Dodaro)
7. Requesting for a recommendation on your profile from previous colleagues will highlight your skills and performance (Elliot)
8. Listing at least 5 skills and endorsements that is promoted by current and previous co-workers will drive engagement  (Smulders)
9. Utilizing LinkedIn Pulse to reach a more in-depth audience, and expand your network (Shore)
10. Remaining professional and positive when interacting with individuals on the platform will result in greater engagement (Dodaro)

These practices are something to consider when creating a personalized LinkedIn page. By following these points, the page will attract potential employers and recruiters, and your network will begin to expand. I hope this list proves to be informative, and provides guidance in any experience with LinkedIn in the future.
