Subject: Progress Report-A Proposal to Eliminate Littering on UBC Campus
Intended Audience
People are in charge of UBC rubbish control and sustainability; UBC Sustainability Programme Coordinator: Jacquie Kwok, UBC Safety and Risk Services Environmental Protection Team Advisor: Ligia Gheorghita, and AMS President: Cole Evans.
Purpose of Report
The purpose of this report is to provide recommendations to reduce UBC campus littering and being aware of on campus littering.
Significance of Report
This report will bring all UBC members’ attention including students, staves, and professors, to being aware of the importance of improving on campus littering and taking action since we all have a responsibility to keep UBC campus nature as it is.
Research plan
I have identified five plans I should complete on my research:
- Identify primary data source the number of rubbish bins and do not litter signs on campus through observation.
- Compose primary data source ethical survey questions and send it out to UBC members (mostly students).
- Conduct secondary research on the other universities’ situations.
- Analyse collected data from observation and survey.
- Summarise the recommendation and conclusion.
Survey
Primary data collection via an online survey targeted to staves and students of UBC. The attached is a link to the survey questions used for data collection for this report:

Writing Schedule
- Feb 28: Complete first draft of survey questions
- Feb 29 – Mar 4: Observe primary data on campus
- Mar 5 – Mar 11: Complete the final draft of survey and send it out
- Mar 12 – Mar 18: Conduct secondary data and analyse survey
- Mar 19 – Mar 21: Write first report draft and peer review
- Mar 22 – Mar 25: Develop and revise the report based on comments
- March 26: Submit the report
