Subject: Progress Report – Placing a Clothing Donation Bin at the UBC Bus Loop

Dear Dr. Paterson,

I have completed the formal report outline as required by the assignment instructions on the ENGL 301 blog and have posted it on the Team Li forum. Below are the details of the progress report on placing a clothing donation bin at the UBC bus loop

Audience of the Report

The intended audience for the report is the AMS council, AMS’ the highest decision-making body.

Purpose and Significant of Report

The report’s purpose is to recommend the placement of a clothing donation bin at the UBC bus loop to encourage UBC students and staff to use the donation bin for clothing rather than contributing to the increasing landfills. This report will be important since it will provide recommendations for improving access to a clothing donation bin on the UBC campus.

Report Objectives

The report objectives of this report are:

  • To determine whether students and staff use or will use the clothing donation bins
  • To determine the feasibility of placing a clothing donation bin at the UBC bus loop
  • To provide a recommendation of the placement of the clothing bin with the support of the research data.

Methods

  • Primary data will be from the surveys completed by UBC students and staff.
  • Secondary sources will be from consulting online resources related to clothing banks and clothing bins.

Research Plan

  • Identify the proportion of students who has a positive opinion about the placement of a clothing donation bin.
  • Identify whether students would use the clothing donation bin if it was placed at the bus loop
  • Research more information on the clothing donation bins
  • Search for the clothing donation bins or services that are available on campus
  • Data analysis of the surveys conducted
  • Produce visuals based on the survey data
