Letter #1 – Complaint to WestJet

Dear Customer Service Representative,

I am writing to request a refund for a portion of my WestJet vacation.

I was scheduled to fly from Vancouver to San Jose del Cabo on December 24th so that I could spend the holidays at the resort. However, upon arriving to the airport at 6:00am, my family and I were informed that our flight had been cancelled as a result of a weather issue; supposedly there was an approaching storm, although the weather seemed to remain calm all day.

I was given the option to take a flight later that afternoon with a layover in Mexico City. This resulted in my arrival to San Jose del Cabo to be one day late (Christmas Day) and my having to stay overnight in the Mexico City airport. As such, I missed out on a day of my vacation (that was already paid for) and had to pay for a night in a hotel instead. Further, I was forced to buy meals while travelling that would have already been paid for at my all-inclusive resort.

I would like to request a refund for the total amount paid for the first day of my vacation, the hotel in Mexico City, and the food bought between the time of the flight cancellation and the eventual arrival in San Jose del Cabo. I have attached receipts with all of the totals below.

Please let me know if you can accomodate my request. I am a loyal WestJet customer and would be very appreciative if you could understand the inconvenience this caused my family and I during the holidays.
