Subject: Tips of Writing with YOU ATTITUDE

Belows are some tips for asking your professor to add you into the course you want to take:

  • Adding a subject with a course and student information to help the professor to identify the request.
  • Addressing the appropriate title for the professor, such as “Mr./Dr.”.
  • Stating request with respect and politely.
  • Mentioning in short sentences the benefit of accepting the request.
  • Avoiding setting a specific time or date to get an answer.
  • Expressing appreciation with positive conditions about the professor’s decision.
  • Avoiding the use of informal abbreviations such as P.S.
  • Using formal closing mentions appropriately.

Revising with these tips will be helpful and gives you a higher probability of getting into the course you want. I hope this helps and if you have any questions, please let me know via leoleoleo@students.ubc.ca
