Dear Customer Service Representative,
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I am writing to request compensation for a portion of my WestJet flight from Calgary to Kelowna. I was in Calgary for a family emergency. I was scheduled to fly from Calgary to Kelowna on March 5, 2022 at 11 am. Upon arriving to the airport at 10:00am, I was informed that my flight was delayed by 30 minutes. At 10:30 the gate was changed to the opposite side of the airport. Once I arrived at the new gate, the flight was delayed by another 30 min to 11 am. This continued onto 4 more “30 minute” delays. The flight that was supposed to leave at 11 am left Calgary at 2:30 pm.
The only explanation provided for the delay was “strong wind warnings” related to poor weather in Calgary. I was not given the option to take an earlier flight or a different flight. This resulted in my arrival to Kelowna 4 hours late. My trip was already very stressful due to the family emergency and the flight delay added to the stress. In addition, I was unable to complete my midterm exam for BIOL 433 scheduled for 2 pm on March 5, 2022. I will now be receiving a zero grade for the midterm on a course that is important for me to graduate on time. I am a frequent flyer and a loyal WestJet customer. I have never had a terrible experience with WestJet until now.
I would like to request a refund or a credit for a domestic flight from Westjet.
Please let me know if you can accommodate my request. I appreciate your prompt attention to the matter and I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Trisha Bhamra
