- Audience description-Dental office personnel, dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants.
- Introduction of Topic-Adopting Postural Awareness Techniques to Minimize Injuries at a General Dental Practice in Downtown Calgary Alberta.
- Statement of the Problem-Injuries causing time off work or early exit from the profession.
- Proposed Solution-Increase dental provider awareness of proper ergonomic practices focused on bodily and client positioning while working.
- Scope of Questions-What are providers doing to get these injuries, what focused postural techniques can help, and can this prevent or post-pone musculoskeletal injuries.
- Forms of Primary and Secondary Sources-Interviews and surveys of dental office staff including dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants, and a literature review on postural techniques effectiveness on musculoskeletal injury prevention.
- My Qualifications-Practicing dental hygiene for ten years and working in dental for fifteen, coompletion of study club sessions and continuing education on ergonomics and ability to provide a comprehensive literature review.
- Conclusion-Summarizes the positive benefits of incorporating proper ergonomic practices into routine dental office life at a general dental practice in downtown Calgary Alberta.
