Subject: Charged cancellation fees

Dear Customer Service Representative,

I recently cancelled a Singapore Airlines flight from Vancouver to Singapore due to fly on June 16th, 2022, with flight number SQ 29. Due to
unfortunate personal circumstances, I had to cancel my flight on the 15th of June 2022. I was unable to do this through the online portal, so I called the 24-hour helpline number provided on your website. The customer service representative was able to help me by cancelling my flight and did not mention any cancellation fees. However, when I checked my credit card statement for June, I saw a USD 200 fee from Singapore Airlines.

While booking a month before the scheduled flight, I saw a mention of a new policy where the cancellation fees were waved off for flights booked before 1st August 2022, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is why I don’t understand why I’ve been charged these cancellation fees.

Since there was no prior notification of cancellation fees, I am writing to request a refund of the USD 200 charged to my credit card. Please find the ticket cancellation confirmation and my credit card statement attached to this letter.

Thank you for taking the time to look into this matter.

Sincerely,

Anushka Nair
