Dear Team Members,

LinkedIn is a networking platform for professionals to connect, share, and learn. Individuals can create profiles that act as CVs, and connect with contacts who can endorse their skills. I will share a few practices that can help build your Linkedin professionally.

  1.  Fill Out and Complete Your Profile: This is a simple yet essential practice since the most filled-out profiles on LinkedIn come up first in a recruiter’s search.
  2. Use a representative headline: The use of Headline should convey who you are and what you’re about in a short, clear, and concise way. Having the right headline ensures you get found by recruiters for the right, relevant job since a lot of them only search by title.
  3. Create an Outstanding Summary: Your summary should speak to your skills, experience, and professional interests. It is also a good chance to reveal your accomplishments and expertise you have gained in the past.
  4. Optimize Your Experience Section: Unlike a resume, your LinkedIn work experience entries should be general, less detailed, and not tailored for a certain position. Yet it should both complement and support your resume. For each previous position, include the responsibilities and achievements that stand out and skip all the irrelevant work experience.
  5. Allow Endorsements from others:  Allow your connections to come to your profile and endorse you. Endorsements add validity to your online resume by backing up your work experience.
  6. Network: Start making personal connections, feel free to add recruiters, HR specialists, and hiring managers in companies you want to work for to your network. This way, you’ll always be updated with open positions that they have.
  7. Complete an Accomplishments Section: It is the place where you can showcase your all the hard-earned accomplishments to the potential professionals and visitors. Such as awards, languages learned, projects, publications.
  8. Disclose That You’re Open to New Opportunities:LinkedIn lets you show whether you’re open to new opportunities or not on your profile. This helps recruiters understand whether you’re open to being approached or not.
  9. Get Some Recommendations: Recommendations add social proof to your profile – they show that your coworkers and peers think highly of your skills.
  10. Become an Active User: Actively using LinkedIn such as engaging in conversation and comments on someone else’s posts, this will help grow your network, be more visible to your existing network.

LinkedIn is a well-known platform as it hosts more than 600 million professional profiles, which means nearly an unlimited supply of network connections and job opportunities. From seeking a new job to maintaining your personal brand, using LinkedIn is an important part of being a full-fledged professional in any industry these days.
