Subject: 301 Progress Report – Addressing Mental Health in the Workplace

Purpose and Significance of Report

The primary purpose of this report is to address the growing concerns of mental health challenges due to the inaccessibility of work-life balance measures. The need for human interaction has been compromised and employees are feeling its effects with burnout in their work and personal life.

Intended Audience

The report’s intended audience is Adrian Dix, British Columbia’s Minister of Health.

Objectives

The objectives of this report are to:

  • Provide recommendations for improving resources and access to provincial mental health care
  • Understand the impact of COVID-19 on the workplace and the trends that have emerged
  • Assess the extent of work-life balance and how that affects an employee’s probability of experiencing burnout

Methods

I will be using an online survey targeted to employees as my primary data collection source. Attached is the link to the survey questions I will use in my report. Survey

Research Plan

In order to analyze feasibility and provide strong recommendations, I plan to:

  • Conduct surveys to understand the level of stress employees face in the workplace
  • Research the cost to implement new health initiatives in the workplace
  • Survey remote and hybrid employees to understand their working situation and where they can see improvement
  • Read published articles written during the pandemic by verified sources
  • Extract graphs and data tables from Stats Canada to draw conclusions on quantifiable outcomes
