Peer Review– Term: Executive Function

Thank you for posting the term definition assignment. It provided a lot of valuable insight.

First Impressions:

  • The report is well-organized and presents a vivid understanding of executive function.
  • The subheadings help to break down the report into manageable sections and provide structure to the document.

Organization:

  • The report is well-structured and easy to follow.
  • The subheadings are helpful in guiding the reader through the content.
  • The definitions are clearly presented, and the examples help to illustrate the concept of executive function.

Introduction:

  • The introduction provides an overview of the assignment and sets the context for the discussion of executive function.
  • It is comprehensive and brief, providing the reader with an understanding of what will be covered in the report.

Definitions:

  • Each definition is tailored to the audience and purpose of the assignment.
  • The definitions are clear and concise, making them easy to understand.
  • The expanded definition includes too much history and explanation, which can make it difficult for the audience to grasp the concept’s practical meaning. The visual is useful but may not be enough on its own.
  • It is essential to strike a balance between providing enough information to understand the concept without overwhelming the audience.

Visuals:

  • The visual aid, Figure 1, is a helpful addition to the report. It provides a clear visual representation of the different aspects of behaviour executive functioning enables in humans.
  • The image is straightforward and easy to understand, making it a helpful tool in understanding the concept of executive function.

Grammar/Typos:

  • The sentences are clear and compact, but avoiding run on sentences like ‘In the sentence “Students learn to differentiate between the levels of detail in definitions, selecting the right level of detail, and learn how audience and purpose presuppose the need for definitions,” there is a run-on sentence. It can be corrected by separating it into two sentences: “Students learn to differentiate between the levels of detail in definitions and select the right level of detail. They also learn how audience and purpose presuppose the need for definitions.”
  • In the sentence “Executive function in humans is a set of mental processes that enable planning, focused attention, memory, and multitasking,” the word “enable” should be changed to “enables,” since “function” is singular.
  • Other than these minor errors, the assignment is well-written and conveys its ideas clearly.

Works Cited:

  • The report includes a comprehensive list of references that support the discussion of executive function.
  • The sources cited are relevant and credible.

Concluding Comments:

  • The report is well-structured, well-written, and however, includes some irrelevant and credible sources.
  • Correct any errors or awkward phrasing for better flow.
  • To reduce the number of lengthy sentences in a document, review and edit it for conciseness.
  • Making sub-subheadings bold will help readers navigate through this assignment better and faster.

Thank you for taking the time and extending the meaning of Executive Function. It was a very interesting read, and helped provide new insight. Additionally, the use of a real-world example, the concept of executive function, demonstrates the practical application of technical definitions in professional writing.
