Subject: Formal Proposal for Increased Online Classes/Labs at UBC
As you requested in Unit 2.1, I have completed the formal proposal for ENGL 301.
As per the assignment outline: the formal proposal letter includes
- Introduction of Topic – Barriers to attending in-person lectures and labs at UBC
- Intended Audience – Dean of Arts at UBC Dr. Clare Haru Crowston
- Statement of Problem – The detrimental effects of the lack of online lectures and labs
- Proposed Solutions – Increase online lectures and labs and/or split large classes into both formats
- Scope of Questions – Areas to focus my research: student experience and inquiry into the cost-effectiveness of online classes
- Forms of Primary and Secondary Sources – Student surveys, contacting the head of the psychology department, and researching the number of online versus in-person classes on offer from UBC
- My Qualifications – This is my second degree. I currently commute four hours to campus and work full-time
- Conclusion – Summary of how increasing online classes is beneficial to UBC and its students
