Subject: ENGL 301 Progress Report on The Development of a Navigation App for Metrotown Mall to Improve Customer Experience
Purpose of the Report:
The purpose of the report is to evaluate the existing Metrotown mall navigation system and offer suggestions for enhancing the shopping experience for customers by creating a navigation app.
Significance of the Report:
The audience can infer from the research findings that their shopping experience can be made more convenient, as they won’t need to spend excessive time searching for the desired store.
Intended Audience:
Administration Office of Metrotown Mall
Report Objectives:
- To evaluate and compare the current navigation system in Metrotown mall to other malls in Vancouver
- To develop recommendations for enhancing the shopping experience of customers through the navigation app.
- To explore the feasibility of creating a navigation app for the mall.
- Consider potential challenges and limitations in implementing the suggested navigation app.
Research Plan:
- Conduct a survey to evaluate customers’ experiences navigating Metrotown Mall.
- Distribute the survey on Reddit and local Facebook groups to reach a diverse range of participants.
- Ask friends to distribute the survey among their friends in Vancouver to expand the sample size.
- Collect data on the number and locations of information stands on each floor of the mall.
- Analyze survey data to assess demand for a navigation app and the effectiveness of information stands.
- Data analysis via graphs and visual representation.
- Conduct a literature review to gather information on similar navigation apps in other malls and shopping centers.
- Develop recommendations for improving the shopping experience at Metrotown using findings from both the primary and secondary sources, and produce sensible recommendations.
Methods:
- Primary method includes data collected via online interviews distributed under #Vancouver on Reddit, Facebook, among friends.
