My name is Fei. I am currently perusing my second bachelor’s degree in computer science, the BCS program at UBC. Previously, I was studying engineering in renewable energy. My academic interests are in sustainability, technology, and innovation. When I was young, I started learning English as a second language so that I am able to study and live in Canada today. I believe that technology is leading us towards excellence at present and in the future. And I would think of programming language as one of the media for us to talk to the future.
When it comes to my career plan, I am always attracted by companies and organizations that focus on sustainable development through advanced technology. I think that technology is created by human beings for human beings. Nowadays, technology, such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data science, is assisting decision-makers to make responsible and sustainable decisions. Wouldn’t it be lovely to have a job that is rewarding both from a financial perspective and for the benefits of our environment, society, and our next generation?
Besides work and study, I am a huge fan of movies and documentaries. They helped me to know more about the unknown world. Over the past year, we have been pretty isolated, and watching movies and documentaries really helped me to have virtual interactions with nature and other people. Also, I love playing volleyball, squash, and tennis. They help me keep fit and make friends. If anyone needs a volleyball teammate, hit me up!
