Hello everyone! My name is Michelle Zaporojets. I am a 21-year-old, fourth year undergraduate student studying Sociology and Statistics at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC. I most recently hail from San Francisco, California, but have lived in a wide variety of cities throughout the United States and Canada. While living in San Francisco, I developed a large interest in journalism and marketing and chose to pursue my dream by working various internships and ultimately attending UBC. Although my degree isn’t specific to either profession, I believe that by combining the two majors, I will be able to provide both a sociological and statistical aspect to marketing. However, more or less, my goal is simply to easily obtain a job after graduating from UBC come summer 2015.
While attending school full-time, I am also a part-time Communications Assistant at the School of Population and Public Health here at UBC. With this job, I update their website, develop posters and signs for distribution throughout the school, and produce articles and press releases. It is quite the tedious task sometimes considering the school is within the Faculty of Medicine and my knowledge of this faculty and information within it is not exactly up to par with the requirements – but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do. As long as my foot is even an inch in the door to my future!
Throughout my web folio, you will find various links to my social media sites, personal website, and resume. I have also included work samples, a blog, and application package that was required for an ENGL301 course I took in second semester of the 2014-2015 school year. The provided information and links will thoroughly depict who I am and the work that I produce.
I will leave you with a quote that I try to live by:
“Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, it’s at the end of your arm. As you get older, remember you have another hand: the first is to help yourself, the second is to help others.” –Sam Levenson
My goal in life is to help others – whether it’s small and helping friends, or on a larger scale and helping the world. One task can do wonders for someone.
