Hi, my name is Ryan Tso, and I am currently in my fourth year of the BCS degree. Before this, I completed a bachelor’s degree in Food & Nutritional Sciences where I later worked at health foods and supplements manufacturer Organika Health Products Inc. as a quality control supervisor.
I’ve always fancied the magic of software automation ever since I was little, but never really discovered a passion in it until well into my years working at Organika. Having worked with outdated procedures and tools, I took pride in modifying and creating new procedures and tools (mostly complex excel spreadsheets) that greatly boosted the efficiency of my workflow and that of my colleagues. Seeing my efforts help others in their own work and making their life a little bit easier brings me a great sense of satisfaction. But the majority of my duties did not revolve around this, more so I was tasked with monotonous work that was not very rewarding to say the least. Day in and day out I went through the motions, until one day I decided to take action; I decided to go back to school to follow what brought me meaning: to help others using software automation.
Now, in my 4th year of my studies, I have studied through courses with keen enthusiasm, concentrating a lot on software development and making sure to retain skills that are vital for my own goals and for the professional market. Having six years of deep knowledge in the operations of a company, I ultimately would love to combine my experience and new-found technical skills to work for a company that helps other businesses improve on their efficiency and workflow through the means of software automation.
