About me

Hello everyone!

My name is Peter Yang. I am a 24-year-old Psychology student at the University of British Columbia and will be graduating in May 2023. I am originally from Inner Mongolia China and moved to Canada with my parents in 2005 and been living in Vancouver since.

Unlike some students who either go into UBC straight from High School or who transferred from only one school, I went to two other schools, before I transferred to UBC. I first started at Langara for one and a half years and then at Kwantlen Polytechnic University and now at UBC. As you can see, UBC has been the school that I’ve always wanted to go to, but because of my grades, I was not able to be admitted, so my dream has finally come true.

Apart from academics, I consider myself quite active. For instance, I love swimming and playing basketball in my free time. I was on my high school swim team for five years and swam with my local swim club for five seasons and I made the Provincial team in my third season. In addition to that, I love watching Youtube and NBA. As a matter of fact, I have a Youtube channel myself where I upload music-related content. I currently have 486 subscribers and hoping to reach one thousand by the end of 2022. Below is the link to my channel.

I have participated in various volunteer work in the past. For example, I was a program leader for an afterschool care program called Steveston United Peers, which is designed for kids with disabilities to practice social skills. In addition, I also have volunteered as a swim coach at River Club and as a volunteer for my swim club: Richmond Kigoos Swim Club. On top of that, I also have volunteered at various charity events such as the Canadian Cancer Society.
