{"id":19,"date":"2016-08-05T11:36:34","date_gmt":"2016-08-05T18:36:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/enph253group1\/?page_id=19"},"modified":"2016-08-10T15:33:34","modified_gmt":"2016-08-10T22:33:34","slug":"software","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/enph253group1\/software\/","title":{"rendered":"Software"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The software was constructed in five stages:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Joyride<\/strong> &#8211; Tape-following, random navigation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Discovery<\/strong> &#8211; Ability to detect infrared light emitted from passengers and stop in front of them.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Delivery<\/strong> &#8211; Ability to pick up passenger and deliver them to the drop-off area.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Precision<\/strong> &#8211; Implemented node-based navigation system for smarter\u00a0navigation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Intelligence<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0Various improvements and optimization.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>We successfully implemented all five stages\u00a0and came away with a very reliable robot on competition day\u00a0which directly contributed\u00a0to our excellent\u00a0performance in the competition.<\/p>\n<p>The robot was controlled using a <a href=\"http:\/\/projectlab.engphys.ubc.ca\/enph-253-2016\/tinah-2016\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>TINAH<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>(inspired by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.handyboard.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Handyboard<\/a>) which was provided by the course. We controlled all aspects of the robot using the TINAH.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-144 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/enph253group1\/files\/2016\/08\/TINAH.jpg\" alt=\"TINAH\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/enph253group1\/files\/2016\/08\/TINAH.jpg 800w, https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/enph253group1\/files\/2016\/08\/TINAH-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ubc.ca\/enph253group1\/files\/2016\/08\/TINAH-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The software was written in <strong>C<\/strong> and uploaded to the TINAH using the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arduino.cc\/\" target=\"_blank\">Arduino <\/a>IDE.
