つ vs ちゅ (Tsu vs Chu)

As we saw in an earlier lesson, ‘tsu’ つ is allowed as a syllable of Japanese. There is another syllable ‘chu’ ちゅ in Japanese, and these two may sound similar to some learners but they are actually two different syllables. Korean speakers sometimes substitute ‘chu’ ちゅ for ‘tsu’ つ when they are learning Japanese; the result is that the two different syllables may not sound different.
