This week’s task was to compile all our brochure ideas into one cohesive draft that we will be presenting to Chris and others next week. Prior to this, we made an ocean-only brochure where we chose sea surface temperature anomalies and Arctic sea ice extent to be our representative water data. Theresa, Mikaela, and I (along with the other groups) all found the process of forming one brochure to be more difficult than anticipated. We used our weekly meeting time as a work session which allowed everyone to be on the same page in terms of our goals for the brochure. This led us to reflect on how much of science is a collaborative effort and this is most efficient (at times) in person. During our work session, most of the emphasis was put on aesthetic details which also made us think about the intricacies of scientific communication, which at times can be as nitpicky as the font size on graphs.
