In this page we are going to focus on\u00a0the student\u2019s perspective.<\/p>\n<p>There is an apparent shift in the educational system from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cmu.edu\/teaching\/assessment\/basics\/formative-summative.html\">summative assessment<\/a> towards the<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/jtlLp_ZsyvQ\"> formative process centered assessment<\/a>; which increases the complexity of the observation of learning (Qvortrup &amp; Keiding, 2015). Among the different forms of evaluation methods, portfolio popped as one of the most effective ways of assessment that left many expectations on this kind of evaluation. However, there are numerous challenges accompanied by the use of portfolio in assessment; the major one is to what extent the portfolio lives up to its expectations (Qvortrup &amp; Keiding, 2015). Since portfolios are described as \u2018envelopes of the mind\u2019 (Orland-Barak\u00a02005), and as tools for exploring feelings, values, beliefs and dispositions collected over time (LaBoskey\u00a01993; Smith and Tillema\u00a01998); the challenges come from assessing the mind including feelings and beliefs. In this eportfolio learning commons, we will try to discuss these challenges we face, as instructors, so our assessment would be directed towards enriching the learning process of the student as complementary and scaffolding towards easier learning by motivating <a href=\"http:\/\/static1.squarespace.com\/static\/50eca855e4b0939ae8bb12d9\/t\/51d71f4ee4b01caf88caffb1\/1373052752106\/We-do-not-learn-from.jpg\">reflection<\/a> on and self-evaluation of the learning processes and achievements. Therefore; we believe that the assessment should be simply focused towards these aspects:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Degree of transparency (have learned\/have not learned) \u2013Reflection and reflexivity- by documentation of learning process and achievements.<\/li>\n<li>Stimulation of learning<\/li>\n<li>Autonomy and self-directed<br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Strategic &amp; Realistic Assessment of Interactive ePortfolios<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>It is important for the students to continually assess the quality of their ePortfolios by using a rubric.
