    Hey Joti,
I enjoyed reading your concept map! You’ve included a lot of details that I didn’t think about. I like how you made several links to Instructional Design and the Curriculum, it makes each of the theories very practical to our jobs. Your colour scheme makes the map very easy to follow/understand!
Can you make any connections between SEL, SRL, Social Contexts, and/or Diversity? (similar to how you did between Cognitivism and Constructivism). Also, I found the text hard to read, even after I zoomed in as far as I could (could just be my computer though).
    Thanks for sharing!

    Hi Joti,

I am intrigued by your CMap. You have produced a simple and concise CMap with a lot of information from our lectures, readings, and seminars. I like how you have colour coordinated the headings in each theory and used it consistently throughout. You have included “instructional design” in each theory which relate to educational practices. I think this is important as we need to consider how these theories are important and practical in the real classroom.

I would suggest adding more information to the “social emotional learning” and “social contexts of learning”. You could branch out details further that expand on the information that you currently have included. I would also suggest a link from “Socially Responsible Self Regulation” under “Self Regulated Learning” to some of the links under “instructional design” under “Social Emotional Learning”. I feel that SRSR could promote positive outcomes for “self-management and awareness,” “responsible decision-making,” “developing social awareness.”

Some visuals could be useful in clarifying information, such as: Urie Bronfenbrenner’s ecological system. This would demonstrate how the layers move from the inner core to the outer circle.

Overall, you have done a great job on your CMap. Well done!

    Hi Joti

I’m happy to comment on your second draft of your CMap as I had been the one to provide feedback on your first draft. I like how you have taken my suggestion and added a centre bubble to connect to each theory. Perhaps add “Learning” to this bubble so that it is “Human Development and Learning Theories” or “Human Learning and Development Theories”? I like the colour coordination within each theory to specify theorists and aspects.

Under “Behaviourism” and “Instructional Design” there is a typo for “structured.” You may want to also include neobehaviourism and Bandura under this theory. For “Constructivism” and “Vygotsky” put a space between “Cultural Tools.” For “Social Contexts of Learning” you may want to add the three types of knowledge as well. For Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory perhaps add examples for each type of system? For “Diversity” you can also add the layers of identity to include sexual orientation, abilities/disabilities. For “Self Regulated Learning” there is a typo for “Self Evaluation” (in High SRL contexts). Also, you may want to add details for SRSR (ie. peer based regulated learning).

I hope this helps! Great job!
