The Enbridge Northern Gateway pipeline and the First Nations

Posted by in Uncategorized

Embridge Inc. is planning on creating a “Northern Gateway pipeline” in order to transport bitumen to Asia, however, this project causes many problems with the First Nations people as they would be building these pipelines over their territories. As a First Nation myself, I appose this project entirely as it has the potential to destroy some of our sacred territories. Although Embridge proposes that this project would in fact benefit the First Nations as it would increase job availabilities as well as increase training and education, there are high risks…read more

Burger King Deal With Tim Hortons May Be Disastrous For Rainforest’s

Posted by in Uncategorized

After reading Brodie McLaughlin’s blog post on the environmental concerns on Burger King’s takeover of Tim Hortons, I became very interested in the subject and began to read further into the subject. Palm oil is used in everything from food and fuel to beauty products and cleaning agents. Asahi chief toasts future of Japan’s alcohol market

Posted by in Uncategorized

The market share of Asahi has increased to 38% which means that it is currently holding the largest percentage of the beer market. The reason for the sudden increase in market share is because the NHK Channel (which is a popular public channel) has begun broadcasting a serial based on the life of Scotswoman Jessie Roberta Cowan, who married Japan’s founding father of whisky in 1920. Masataka Taketsuru’s Nikka whisky is owned by Asahi.  Though neither Nikka’s name nor that of its founder are used in the 150 TV episodes, “every Japanese…read more

Facebook Given Green Light To Buy WhatsApp

Posted by in Uncategorized

As a user of both Facebook and Whatsapp, I found this article very intriguing. The European Union regulators recently unconditionally approved Facebook’s $19 billion purchase of the mobile-messaging service WhatsApp Inc., which had been fiercely opposed by Europe’s telecom industry. This is the largest merge in Facebook’s history and it will allow them to have a stronger presence internationally in mobile messaging. From a consumer’s point of view, I find that this merge will benefit customers in mobile messaging as we would be able to have both of the aspects of…read more
