Asplenium scolopendrium (Hart’s tongue fern)

Size:

• 30-45cm wide

• Requires moist soil
• Well-drained
• Can grow on sandstone

Exposure:

• Light to deep shade
• Tolerant of some morning sun but not afternoon sun

Leaves:

• Evergreen
• Undivided fern; fronds unroll into tongue-like blades
• Distinct spore arrangement on backs of leaves; diagonal slashes
• Shiny, reflective, wavy leaves; quite beautiful
• Almost tropical in appearance
