Professional Life
I have been a Registered Dental Hygienist for 2 and a half years. Since graduating, I have worked in a few different general private practice offices as well as for the Department of National Defence.
I have learned so much professionally and personally since starting my career. I learned that my favourite part of everyday at work is when I educate and teach my patients. That is when I realized I want to further my education so I can either be a professor or a researcher.
Academic Life
2014- 2015: I graduated from the one year Pre-Health Science certificate program at Algonquin College with a GPA of 3.8 of a possible 4.0. I took this program because I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do right after high school. This program lead me to the dental hygiene career path.
2015-2018: I graduated from the Dental Hygiene advanced diploma program at Algonquin College with a GPA of 3.8 of a possible 4.0. I gained great clinical experience throughout this program that helps me everyday on the job.
2020-Present: I am currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Dental Science in Dental Hygiene program at the University of British Columbia. I decided to further my education because although I love working as a clinical dental hygienist, I am interested in obtaining a career either in research or education. I felt that a Bachelor of Dental Science would increase my chance of seeking alternative career opportunities.
Future: I would love to increase my knowledge and qualifications even more with a graduate degree program. Specifically, the Master of Craniofacial Science graduate degree program offered at UBC.
Personal Life
I was born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario. I am the youngest of 3 children, I have an older brother and an older sister. Growing up, our family was very outdoorsy and any vacation or trip we took would always be camping. I continue my love for the outdoors by spending as much time as I can outside hiking, camping and jogging. When not immersed in work and school life I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, fiancé and adorable Boston Terrier, Henry.
