Target Audience: Policy makers and professional engineers
Communication Task: To design a website which provide effective erosion control BMP using bio- & eco-engineering techniques for policy makers and professional engineers.
To address the problem of soil erosion in the urban areas, various stakeholders come into play. But our main target audiences for this project are engineers and policy makers. Engineering is playing tremendous in the planning, designing and initiating of developmental projects in the urban areas. The role of policy makers is crucial in the implementation of guidelines, standards and best management practices in urban planing. Our communication task for this project is to develop an easily accessible website to disseminate our ideas to this professionals(Engineers and policy makers)
To learn more about the dynamics and uniqueness of the two audiences, resources such as peer review journals, a professional update from Association such the Registered Professional of Engineers will be very useful for a resource. Policy briefs, general new update (online and print media)
Engineers and policy makers are learned people who would always like to research for a new ways of doing things. They are interested in details so as to make vital decisions. Engineers in particular love to use online tools. Web communication is one of the fundamental communication channels these professionals are used to since they are always researcing.
Engineers are interested in details as well as precision. The policy maker also thinks around the same line.
We assume it will be quite difficult to converse our audience especially, the engineers. Though engineers are used to researching and always looking for alternatives to make improvement in technology, they hardly accept concepts from professional outside their yield of practice. “ Engineers always knowing”. The decision of policy makers is something political influenced which usually affect sound evaluation. They might still reject our ideas even though they know they realistic just on political grounds.
They might assume we are environmentally minded professionals because of our background and we just want to present strategies which might not be technically feasible to meet our interest. The nature of the of the urban environmental would support innovations which have to focus on natural processes. Another assumption might be that we know little about engineering and policy hence we are not in the right position to suggest to them.
To collect feedback from the audience of our prior to the project. We evaluation how there have handled or accepted similar innovation as ours as to predict their expected reaction to our proposal. To monitor their feedback on the project specifically, we will make use of google analytics to survey the number of engineer and that visited and what specifically their interested in. A comment section will also be created to have direct feedback them.

Ecological engineering and bioengineering techniques offer a more sustainable way of addressing soil erosion problems in urban areas rather than just focusing on only civil engineering means. We believe that the use of natural processing in erosion control will not only control erosion but will help manage challenges associated with climate change, flood and other environmental menaces in the urban environment.
To enhancing communication, we will use of video to explain fundamental concepts of how vegetation and natural processes control erosion. Interactive visual analytics graphs will demonstrate the potential of various ecological geotextiles by the help of tableau. Flowcharts will be used to explain conceptual framework. All this will be hosted on a website for easy access to the information.
With our in-depth analysis and quality visual representation of the message, we are very optimistic that our audience will share and see to the implementation of our ideas.
