Chris Rambaran is an Enrolment Services Advisor at UBC Vancouver for prospective and current students with lived experience in government care. His position is part of a more recent expansion to the Enrolment Services project team that oversees the two tuition waiver programs available to these students. The program at UBC began in 2014 with the UBC Post-Care Tuition Waiver.

In 2017 the Province expanded support to former youth in care with the creation of the Provincial Tuition Waiver Program. That year UBC saw its own population of students from care nearly double.

On April 16th, 2019 Douglas College hosted a celebration of the Provincial Tuition Waiver Program. The guest speakers included alumnus of care Makayla Waldenberger, Premier John Horgan, Minister Melanie Mark, Minister Katrine Conroy, and Student Support Navigator Karen Chhabra from Douglas College.

Chris attended the event along with students, Angela Warren and Jess Boon who are both graduating the Bachelor of Social Work program at UBC Vancouver this year.
