It has certainly been a tough couple of years for many of us and our families, friends and colleagues. We spend a lot of time with each other as coworkers, and that means that it may be the case that a colleague may confide in you that they need help, or you may notice independently.

UBC has a number of resources available to support staff who are experiencing such challenges, and the Orange Folder resource has been developed to outline referrals and resources when responding to these kinds of circumstances.

Don’t forget about our Employee and Family Assistance Program either!

The Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) is a confidential, voluntary, short-term counselling support service that provides employees and their families with help to resolve a wide range of personal, work, health or life issues. Offered through Morneau Shepell’s Lifeworks, expert information and immediate support resources are available.

Our extended health benefits also covers psychologists and registered clinical counsellors (RCCs) up to $3,000 per annum. For more details on benefits and how to access them, visit the UBC Benefits site here: https://hr.ubc.ca/benefits/benefit-plan-details/extended-health-benefits
