New Staff Spotlight: Ryan Lai

Professional: I graduated from UBC with a Bachelor of Arts in double majoring in International Relations and Political Science – focusing on Arctic Law and International Warfare. I spent my entire undergrad with UBC’s Athletics and Recreations department, working with Recreation as a Director and Varsity Events as a Team Lead. Shortly after graduating, I joined the Varsity Events full-time as an Events Coordinator where I had the opportunity to manage two National Championships. I was not done with UBC yet, as I’m back with UBC’s Scheduling Services.

Personal: I love working events! I most recently helped run the Lululemon Seawheeze festival and half marathon. As typical as it is, I also love the outdoors so I try my best to get out hiking when the weather is good!  I enjoy photography and graphic design work when I’m free. But in all honestly, I spend most of my free time either reading or watching sports and I try to workout and run to offset that.
