To improve emergency communications to the campus community, emergency notifications are also available via text message.

To receive emergency text messages on your personal or work cell phone, sign up for UBC ALERT, UBC’s emergency notification system.

Remember to update your contact information if your cell phone number changes.

Staff and Faculty
  1. Log on to www.my.ubc.ca with your Campus-Wide Log-in ID (CWL).
  2. Enter the self-service web portal by clicking on “The Management Systems Portal”.
  3. Click on “Faculty and Staff Self-Service” button and “continue”.
  4. Update your information.
    1. To update your cell phone number in order to receive UBC Alert emergency text messages –  click on “personal information” and update “phone numbers”.
    2. To update your emergency contact information (contact for parent, spouse, friend who can be reached in case you are ill or injured on campus) – click on “emergency contact”.

If you encounter problems updating your contact numbers, please review the self-service guide which contains instructions on how to use the features within the self-service portal, or contact the help desk at hrms.help@ubc.ca.

Students

If you work with students, please remind them to update their cell phones on the Student Service Centre (SSC).
