Buono Osteria

Buono Osteria is a newer restaurant in Gibsons and I had chosen this restaurant for my birthday dinner because of its amazing view of the water and the menu seems like everyone should be able to find something that works with their diet (Vancouverites, am I right?).

As soon as we walked in, we realized every table can see the water and we didn’t have to worry about requesting a table with a view. One thing to note is that they also have a private dining room, just in case you’re also planning a special occasion. We had ordered three appetizers and six mains. For the appetizers, the ones that stood out to us were the Deep Fried Halloumi Cheese and the Duck Liver Pate. Both dishes had interesting flavor profiles that our table could not get enough of and they really nailed the “Modern Mediterranean meets Pacific North West” vibe.

Some of us ordered pizzas and some of us had pastas and I would highly recommend the Pera pizza if you like cheese and especially gorgonzola (yum!). The pairing of pears and gorgonzola was packed with flavors and it also made a delicious late-night/pre-brunch snack. The drinks were also good so if you ever want to just grab a drink with some appetizers, this would be a great a spot as well. All in all, this was a great discovery and was a highlight of our weekend trip.

Lunitas

While we waited for the ferry back to Vancouver, we made a quick stop at Lunitas for some small bites after a hike at Smuggle Cove. We didn’t have a super high expectation but we were pretty happy with the food. All of us opted for the Happy Hour food menu and had the three tacos for $15 option. My personal favorite was the fish taco and a couple of us were pleasantly surprised by the chicken tacos as well. Chicken isn’t usually the most popular choice for tacos but Lunitas’ chicken was tender and flavorful. The toppings and dressing made the chicken tacos very enjoyable. If you are interested in Mezcal, they also have a decent selection of interesting ones to try.
