The holidays are just around the corner. Students are preparing for exams and staff are looking forward to shorter lines at Starbucks and getting a seat on the bus.

Enrolment Services on both the Okanagan and Vancouver campuses are getting in the holiday spirit with a number of festive activites. Here’s what’s planned so far:

Vancouver campus

Staff Seasonal Celebration

Thursday, December 12 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Sage Bistro

Indulge in some food and drinks while celebrating the season with your colleagues! A selection of hot and cold canapés,  wine, beer, juice and pop will be available.

The theme of this year’s celebration is Spreading Holiday Cheer. Between December 2nd and 12th we will be collecting food and fundraising for two charities.

Seasonal hampers for UBC single parents

Your unit rep (see below) will be selling 50/50 tickets to raise money for single parents on campus. Half of all sales from 50/50 tickets will go towards purchasing gift cards, which will be given to the participating single parents. This will allow them to choose and purchase items that best fit their family’s needs.

The Seasonal Hamper program is run by CJ Rowe in Access & Diversity. CJ and the A&D team also use this initiative to link student parents with other campus resources that might be able to lend a hand at this time of year and over the course of their student career.

50/50 tickets will cost $1 each, $5 for an arms length and $10 for a wing-span. The draw will take place at the Seasonal Celebration (you don’t have to be present to claim your prize). All non-winning tickets will be placed back in a draw for additional prizes.

The Greater Vancouver Food Bank

Your unit rep will also be collecting much needed food and household items (see below). For each item donated, you will receive one draw ticket. We will draw for a number of prizes during the Seasonal Celebration.
