It’s a bird, it’s a plane… yes, it’s definitely a plane! The Student Recruitment and Advising team is at it again: we’re gearing up for Destination UBC and the arrival of a whole ‘lotta prospective students keen on seeing what life at UBC is all about (and we’re promising more than just a hipster coffee culture).

The Destination UBC Vancouver Aboriginal student event will take place April 27-29. Aboriginal students will join us from across Canada to engage in specialized programming prior to, and following, the single-day UBC Welcomes You event on Saturday the 28. We anticipate well over 1000 prospective students and parents on the Vancouver campus that weekend!

The Destination UBC Okanagan event will follow shortly thereafter, taking place from May 11-13. This event will welcome hundreds of Okanagan admits from all across Canada and will feature an Indigenous Welcome for Aboriginal students one day earlier. There will be games, dance parties, trips to downtown Kelowna, and a whole lot of fun!

Keep your eyes out for what could be excitable or nervous new-to-UBC students! And you might as well tip them off on where they can find coffee – chances are, they’ll be looking for it while we’re looking for them.
